ABCIS (The ABC International School)
The ABC International School

The ABC International School (originally the ABC English School) was established in 1994 at a time when Ho Chi Minh City lacked options in international education for children of foreign investors, expatriates and Vietnamese nationals. The school began with 12 students in a playgroup and nursery class and added new classes each year. By 2001 the school catered for 70 children from Playgroup to Year 6, teachers were increasingly recruited from overseas and the school formally began to follow the British National Curriculum. At this time, the school name was altered to the ABC International School to reflect the growth of the school and the diversity of the students and staff. In 2003, the school was registered with the important UK educational bodies the QCA and DfES.

At this stage, the school was involved in a very rapid phase of expansion and growth as its popularity grew. The school moved into its first purpose built campus in Saigon South in 2004 and shortly afterwards, we were obliged to move to the larger present campus at Saigon South as the student population then exceeded 500. In 2005 the school was accredited by Cambridge University (UK) to teach the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Advanced level examinations. In the same year, the school successfully applied for membership of the Federation of British International Schools in South and East Asia (FOBISSEA). Currently, The ABCIS is the only School in Vietnam to be acknowledged and accepted as a member of the Council of British International School (COBIS); a group of the most prestigious and best of British curriculum schools abroad that uphold the very highest academic standards and are recognised by the British Government. Similarly, it is the only school in Vietnam to offer examinations from Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) board. ABCIS provides education for 2-18 year olds, the school offers instruction in all UK curriculum subjects through the medium of English and offers teaching of an adapted version of the British National Curriculum, the Cambridge IGCSE and AS/A levels.

The school comprises students of thirty seven different nationalities, providing a rich cultural diversity of which it is proud. The highly experienced, fully qualified class teachers are from the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, China, the Philippines and France.

AIS (Australian International School)
Australian International School

AIS provides an international education for children from Kindergarten(from 2 years old) to graduation (Year 13). Our students represent over 35 different nationalities.  In Kindergarten and Primary School, we teach the International Baccalaureate’s (IB) Primary Years Programme; in Middle School, we teach the highly regarded University of Cambridge Secondary Programme with the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE); and in Senior School we teach the IB’s Diploma Programme, which is the most widely recognised and accepted international school accreditation in the world.

Within this solid curriculum framework, AIS offers a personalised education with a focus on academic excellence.  The School is known for the quality and commitment of its teachers and for the excellent results achieved by its students, in both the IGCSE (in Year 11) and the IB’s Diploma Programme (Year 13).

The facilities of the School’spurpose-built three campuses in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City are second-to-none.  They include a state of the art Science Wing, Design & Technology studio and Computer Laboratories, including an iMac Suite; comprehensive Art, Theatre, Music and Dance facilities, including studios and a large auditorium and exhibition areas; two 25m salt-water swimming pools; two “learn to swim” wading pools; two outdoor basketball and tennis courts; two astroturf soccer fields and a huge air-conditioned indoor gymnasium. Our Kindergarten facilities are specially designed with their own enclosed and secure landscaped playgrounds.

But what really sets AIS apart is the high quality of its teaching staff, and the School’s careful preparation of students for university.  AIS students are offered a wide range of academic, artistic and creative subjects; and teachers cater for each student individually – guiding them academically, and in their choice of subjects, university and career.  Senior students’ decisions on these important matters are also informed by regular visits to AIS by recruitment staff from some of the most reputable universities in the world, including Stanford University and University of Melbourne, and by school-organised trips that our students make to these and other international universities during holiday periods.

Camps in Years 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 to regional destinations; local and international sports competitions (including the annual Australian International Schools Association meet); and extra-curricular activities like music, debating, chess, swimming, soccer and basketball are all important in teaching our studentsvaluable social, strategy and leadership skills, while ensuring that they lead balanced and well-rounded lives.

With over 1,000 students from over 30 countries, AIS is a truly international school.  All tuition is in English, and comprehensive language training and support is provided to those students for whom English is a second language.AIS is also a very community-oriented school, with a busy schedule of events throughout the year for students, parents and friends, and an active charitable programme that sees its students engaging with less-fortunate members of the broader community in a meaningful way.

In short, AIS is a school that seeks to develop the potential that is inherent in each student.  The School does this by identifying and supporting the particular academic, social, emotional and physical needs and abilities of each student.

AMIS

Welcome to ΛIS Elementary School at both Nha Be and Nguyen Van Cu campuses! And, congratulations on making this important choice in your child’s education.

The Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, at the ΛIS gently introduces our youngest children to the world of school. Here we focus on a language-rich, caring, and stimulating environment that promotes active participation and meaningful learning.

The Lower Elementary School, Grades 1-3, continues to introduce our young learners to their school world extending the dialogue to encourage language development, building off play and inquiry as a means for engaging students, and purposefully teaching students to navigate their way in the new world of school.

Upper Elementary School students, Grades 4-5, use their growing language abilities to work cooperatively on projects to practice, demonstrate, and solidify their abilities in Math, English Language Arts, Vietnamese Studies, Social Studies, Science, P.E. and Health, Music and Arts.

At every level, our aim at the Elementary School is to provide a positive, stimulating environment where students can thrive while being challenged to meet their fullest potential.

We recognize that parents are the first and most important teachers of our students. Please know that we value and respect your involvement with your children and their education. Learning takes place at home too! Engaging children with dialogue in the world around them is one of the most important ways parents can contribute to the vast knowledge store that is required of high achieving students. In this respect we encourage all our families to plan for frequent quality interactions with children that are free from electronic devices, center on their child’s interests and are filled with dialogue, questions, and discovery.

At the Elementary School we follow the AERO standards using informal and formal assessments to evaluate and strategically plan for student success. English Language Development is carefully monitored by our specialists through WIDA ACCESS testing. Personal development is valued as highly as academic performance. The ΛIS core values are incorporated into the curriculum in order to build character and confidence in each child. Students are recognized throughout the year for demonstrating these qualities in their performance as an ΛIS student.

We are honored with the responsibility of educating your young children and feel privileged to have such a dedicated team of faculty and staff to work on this endeavor.
